We are experts in dead animal removal, and take our job seriously. When removing dead animals, we do a COMPLETE job — not only do we remove the dead animal from your home or yard, we also decontaminate the area, deodorize it, and dispose of the animal or cremate it. If you aren't sure whether the stench in your house is due to a rotting carcass or another reason, we can sniff it out with our noses from our years of experience. We remove dead raccoons, dead opossums, dead skunks, dead squirrels, dead birds, even dead dogs and cats. We frequently remove dead rodents from inside walls, because poison kills rats and mice, who die in your house. We completely solve your dead animal problem by taking these steps:

  • Sniff out the dead animal if it is somewhere in your home
  • When necessary, for example if the animal is in a wall or under your house, cut a hole to remove the animal
  • Remove the dead animal, safely and completely (and seal the hole if needed)
  • Finish the job by decontaminating and deodorizing your home
  • Properly dispose of the dead animal through incineration or other means
  • Prevent it from happening again by finding out how they got in your house

Dead animal carcass removal is specialty work. Sometimes the job is simple, such as a dead opossum in the yard, in which case we can simply wear our gloves and respirator mask, bag the carcass, and take it away for incineration. Sometimes this is more complex, such as when the dead animal is under a home crawlspace, under a porch or deck or shed. Or if the animal is larger, such as a dog or a deer. The most complex cases are dead animals inside the house. The animal may have died inside the attic, or down in the walls, or the duct work, or any other part of the architecture. You may have a bad smell in your home, and you're not even sure what's causing it. We've removed not just dead animals, but rotting food, bad mold, etc. We specialize in locating the source of the smell, and we very commonly cut a hole in the ceiling or wall to remove the animal. We remove every bit of the carcass, mop up the juices, vacuum the maggots, spray it and wipe it down with disinfectant, cleaner, and we repair the hole we cut. In some cases we use ozone machines to neutralize odor.

Cleveland Dead Animal Tip: Dead Dog Removal Services- Who Do I Call?

You never thought that it would happen; you never imagined that your favorite four-legged friend would be gone. But, unfortunately, not it suddenly has happened, leaving you with no idea how to deal with this passing. While this can be an incredibly difficult time in your life, rest assured that finding someone that will treat Fluffy or Fido with the utmost respect will not be a difficult task, and can usually be handled within a day or two.

If your four-legged friend passes on during business hours, don’t fret, as you can either call or take your pet in to their vet’s office. While this might sound odd, don’t worry, many vet’s offices are used to helping owners take care of their deceased pets- often between forty and fifty per week. This option also has the added benefit of giving you a personal report with the person you are talking to: often workers at a vet’s office are more than happy to help with arrangements, and will make sure that you are happy with them before moving forward.

Sometimes, problems arise in the middle of the night, though, or over a holiday weekend. When these circumstances make it impossible to get ahold of your pet’s normal medical doctor, though, there is also the option of a twenty-four-hour emergency clinic. Often, these can be found in the phone book, and will sometimes include a trained professional that will come and gather your pet, holding it in a special freezer until you have had time to grieve and decide on what arrangements you would like to make.

Aside from these methods, there are also other options to ensure that your pet will be taken care of. Many cities have a Humane Society locally- often found in the phone book- where phone calls are answered around the clock, by trained professionals. While this option is not feasible if you wish to have someone come and pick your pet up, it is helpful with giving you and your partner, or children, time to grieve adequately before dealing with your dead pet. When the pet is taken to the Humane Society, as well, it will be tagged with your information, and kept, without charge, until such time that you are ready to proceed forward.

The final option when dealing with your deceased pet is to call a business that specializes in ‘after-care’, such as a crematory or pet cemetery. Most times, these businesses will also not charge to pick up your pet, and, many times, are also open 24 hours, to make sure that there are options as soon as you are ready.

Whatever route you take, if you decide to throw Fido a burial in your backyard, make sure to check your city ordinances first. Many cities will not allow you to bury pets in your own yard, instead insisting that your pet is taken to either a pet cemetery or a licensed landfill. With so many options out there, though, there are many ways to make sure that your pet will be taken care of the best.
